Help - register for self employment

Hello

I filled out a online form for my wife who is not from the uk to register for self employment, this was back in the first week of January. We have not heard anything. Is this usual or could the revenue have missed her application? I guess there are extra procedures because she is not a uk citizan but should we have heard anything by now?

I'm a bit reluctant to phone them becuase if they have missed her then I'm thinking it would be easier to register in my name. I'm worried because the 3 month deadline is approaching.

Hi

Give them a call - if they've missed it they need to know - the 3 month deadline will still apply...

If your wife is the one who is self employed then it has to be her, you can't register in your name as far as I'm aware and not being straight with HMRC could land you in real trouble!

It is quite usual, when I registered for self employed, I never heard anything back from them, the only time I knew they had recieved it was at the end of the financial year when i got my tax return forms through the post.
