Hello everybody,
Rather frustrated with my 9-5pm job. Would love to break free from the rat race but don't think I have the courage (or enough ideas) to start up from scratch. Am therefore thinking about franchising.
Have about £12 000 available in the bank. Does anybody have any experience they are willing to share about franchising? Is anybody able to recommend any franchise opportunities with potential that would be accessible to me with the capital that I have available.
Also concerned about the viability of franchising - currently earn ~40k and have the usual committments including mortgage etc. Has anybody been in a similar situation? What would be realistic return over the first couple of years?
Would really appreciate any advice.
Andy

Hi Nigel,
Thanks for referring me to the BFA website.
Work in the healthcare industry so don't have any skills that would be be directly transferrable to a franchise business. Main goals are to move away from a job that's 100% desk based. Am potentially interested in retail, fast food or property letting/management.
Cheers,
Andy

Andy,
Where abouts in the country are you based, as we are looking at franchising our business and are looking for local people to take up franchises.
Cheers David

As you probably know, franchises enjoy a better success rate that other forms of small business. That's the plus side.
I've also read many messages from people who felt ripped off by the franchiser. That's the negative side. In this case, some thorough research and independent contact with existing franchisees might be in order.
