Hi,
I plan to get into importing in one way or other. A too good to refuse offer for tickets to Guangzhou (China) came-up so I bought a pair for me and my partner to go there. Other than inspiration, we do not know exactly what we are looking for!
I have a couple of questions, firstly what visa do you recommend we apply since we are already thinking of purchasing somethings?
And finally, if we go for the tourist visa, what is the maximum amount of money one is allowed to take there?
TIA
K2ray
P.S. If any startup members have experience(s) to tell of doing business in the Guangzhou Province of China or Southern China in general it would be greatly appreciated also!

I think that you can apply for tourist visa to visit China sinceit is more convenient to you. And according to the maximum amount of money that one is allowed to take there. I think that it is up to your native country in stead of China. So, you can get information about this from UK government. But you may meet a lot of difficulties such as culture, language .... I am a Chinese and is studying in Birmingham for MBA (almost finish). Some opportunities may exist between us.

Regarding visa's do a search on the net but in short a tourist visa is the best bet although strictly speaking you are going on business. Are you going to Guangzhou for the Canton fair? If so have you got invitations? Have an idea of what you want to import, that is key also leave yourself time to visit factories as some exhibitors look good but production is poor...do you speak Chinese? If not pick up an interpreter outside the fair!
Great place, enjoy it....may see you there!
