Looking for some advice from the business community out there...
We have recently launched our new web site, www.stockshifters.com, which is a business to business only, web auction site providing a marketplace for vendors to dispose of surplus / excess / returned stock efficiently and anonymously. We have plenty of major retail / mail order / catalogue type vendors who are putting stock (or soon will be..) in to our marketplace but we are looking to increase the number of buyers.
As we are a trade only site we are looking for traders rather than consumers (avoids consumer legislation) and already advertise in publications such as The Trader and on Google etc. We obviously need to increase the number of the target audience visiting our site and becoming registered users, I wondered if anyone out there had any great ideas that could help? The type of trader we are looking for is the Market Trader, Sole Trader, Small Retailer etc who is looking for good quality, low cost stock from well known sources.
If anyone knows how we could market effectively to such a target audience it would be appreciated. We believe we have a great marketplace at www.stockshifters.com and we really want to be successful.
Thanks & Regards.

Well, I'm about to look at the site...a when I sort myself out as a sole trader, and if I buy something from the site, I'll be more than happy to recommend.
Personally, given my nature of furture business I reckon word of mouth is the best, and cheapest, form of advertising, although I'm not sure it'll apply to larger companies.
That's my two pennies worth, refunds accepted

I know i am bound to say this as a web designer however I will. The site could certainly look better. One of the barriers a successful web business has to overcome is the impression that is created by the look and feel of the site. As it stands at the moment I think the presentation of the site is poor it looks like it has been knocked together by someone working from home rather than a professional organised operation.
