Startups 100 is the definitive countdown to the UK’s most innovative, inspiring and ground-breaking new companies.
As our criteria explains we've been unashamedly unscientific in our methodology - this is our list of who we think the best, most exciting, promising, disruptive new businesses and entrepreneurs are shaping the start-up market right now.
We've spoken to entrepreneurs, business groups, networking clubs, key influencers, awards organisers, other press - you name them, they've been asked which start-ups they'd put top of list. Consequently, we're confident list is a fair reflection of the current start-up community - recognising the growth in social networking, web2 technologies, social enterprise, green businesses, for example.
Some of the 100 are names or brands you’ll recognise – phenomenal success stories that have already made their mark. Others you’ll be less familiar with, but we’re confident they’ll be a few more household names on the 2008 list by the time we start compiling next year’s countdown!
We hope Startups 100 champions the businesses profiled, gives them the publicity and recognition they deserve, but also stimulates debate - Is the list in the right order? Have we overlooked some poor deserving soul? Who shouldn't have made the cut?
The fact the world's greatest investors and financial organisations have lost billions misjudging business potential certainly means we can, so let us know what you think about the Startups 100 list by leaving a message on our forum.
Anyway, enough about 'what' Startups 100 is. Simply: It's about the businesses. So, please, fill your boots!
